Ashton Smith was born in Boulder, Colorado. He received his Bachelor's degree in biology pre-medicine from Ohio University in 2018. He started working towards a double Master's degree in chemistry the same year under the guidance of Prof. Masson at Ohio University, and Prof. Ralf Hoffmann at the University of Leipzig, Germany. His current research focuses on the synthesis of Cucurbituril-binding metallo-organic complexes and their potential bioanalytical utility in proteomics.
Adam Killmeyer was born in Akron, Ohio. He is a senior undergraduate student currently pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Philosophy at Ohio University, and plans on pursuing a higher degree in organic chemistry. He joined the group of Prof. Masson in May 2019.
Shabnam Pordel was born in Mashhad, Iran. She received her Master’s degree in inorganic chemistry from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Tehran in 2016. Her research interests focus on fluorescence and light sensitive metallo-organic complexes, as well as lanthanide supramolecular chemistry. She joined Prof. Masson's group in Summer 2021.
Mahsa Boraghi was born in Tabriz, Iran. She received her Master’s degree in computational chemistry from the University of Houston in Fall 2018 with the thesis title “Computational Studies of Self-assembling Squaramide and Urea Derivatives”. She joined the Ph.D. program at Ohio University in Spring 2019. Her research interest is the design and synthesis of electrocatalysts as well as lanthanide-based supramolecular architectures.
Sima Saeedi was born in in Tabriz, Iran. She obtained her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) in 2014, and she started her Ph.D. studies in 2017 at Ohio University. Sima's work is focused on the design and synthesis of copper(I) photosensitizers for the reduction of water into molecular hydrogen as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Rachael Pickens grew up in southeast Ohio before moving to Louisiana. There she completed her Bachelor of Science in chemistry at Louisiana State University in 2013. She received a Master of Science degree studying organometallic chemistry from West Virginia University in 2016 before beginning the Ph.D. program at Ohio University. Her research focuses on light-activated transition metal complexes.
